Da wir gerade beim Fernsehen sind. Sollte jemand von mir verlangen, alle guten British comedy series hier aufzulisten – forget it. Vielzuviele! Eine tuts erstmal. Eine, die nicht nur genial ist, sondern auch wiedergibt, was den britischen Humor ausmacht: Ein gesundes Mass an schwarzem Humor und die Selbstverstaendlichkeit, ueber sich selbst lachen zu koennen.
‘Allo ‘Allo! wurde von 1982 bis 1992 gedreht und gesendet und wird seit langer Zeit wieder jede Woche wiederholt. Die Serie spielt waehrend der deutschen Besatzung in Frankreich und strotzt nur so von Klischees. Rene Artois (gespielt von Gordon Kaye) ist eine Cafebesitzer, das Cafe wird von der Resistance als Treffpunkt benutzt. Rene ist verheiratet und hat natuerlich eine Affaere. Dazwischen taucht permanent die Gestapo in Form von Herrn Flick und anderen Gestalten auf, und die Resistance versucht, downed British airmen zurueck nach England zu schmuggeln.
Das alles schreit nach Katastrophen und Absurditaeten, und der brillianteste running gag der Serie sind die grausam schlechten ueberdrehten Akzente, da alle Beteiligten Englisch sprechen, oder es versuchen:
“’Allo ‘allo, zis is nighthawk, over.”
“Leesen verrry carefully, I weel zay zis only once...”
Alle Nationen bekommen es um die Ohren: Der Franzose ist gierig und sexbesessen. Der Brite ist ein upper class Trottel. Der Deutsche ist einfach nur ein buerokratischer Stuemper.
Das Ganze ist saukomisch! International war es ein grosser Erfolg, vor allem in Frankreich und in den USA. Allerdings hat es die Serie nie nach Deutschland geschafft, warum wohl, fragt man sich.
Wer also als Deutscher im Ausland mit “Herr Flick” angesprochen wird, weiss jetzt warum. Ist mir tatsaechlich schon passiert, believe it or not. Und wem es passiert und wer dann nicht darueber lachen kann, hat sowieso nix zu lachen. Ist auf DVD erhaeltlich, sehenswert.

In Holland, there was a big debate whether to broadcast this or not. Jokes about WW2 are 'not done' in Holland. This series was the first that showed swastikas on Dutch television, hence it caused major upset. It was however, a very big hit with viewers so the anti-people soon evaporated.
You know what I look like, and even though I'm not German, guess what they call me ? ;) I never have any problems choosing who to go as at fancy-dress parties.

The gay German officer and his little tank who's in love with Rene is priceless. Also the guy who never says 'Heil Hitler' but simply abbreviates with "lah" ...
Von Smallhausen, General Von Klinkerhoffen. The Italian "wadda missteka to meka" captain. Not to mention "goodmeuning". Never broadcast in Germany? You have absolutely no sense of humor ;)

We didn't like Rudi Carell in Holland, that's why we exported him to Germany.
