Vorbei sind die Zeiten, da das gute alte England als Mutterland aller echten Luxuskarossen bekannt war. Natuerlich gibt es die Marken noch, Jaguar, Bentley und Rolls Royce werden eifrig gebaut, aber allesamt unter auslaendischer Leitung. Schande, Schande, die Marken und Firmen sind nicht mehr in britischer Hand! Wenn man einem Bentley Besitzer die Freude an seinem Wagen verderben will, erinnert man ihn einfach daran, dass er eigentlich einen VW faehrt – einen VOLKSWAGEN. Das hoeren sie meist gar nicht gern, die Herren.
Ganz Britannia? Nein! Eine letzte Bastion ist erhalten geblieben. Die letzte Manufaktur fuer luxurious, exclusive grand tourism cars, die sich noch komplett in britischer Hand befindet: Bristol Cars. Seit 58 Jahren werden die Autos in Handarbeit gebaut, es gibt keine Haendler, sondern nur einen showroom in South Kensington.
Drei Modelle sind zur Zeit erhaeltlich, Blenheim No 3, Blenheim Speedster und Fighter. Letzteres ist, wie der Name vermuten laesst, ein echtes sports car, aber das klassische Familienmodell ist der Bristol Blenheim No 3.
Uber das Design der Autos laesst es sich trefflich streiten. Die Lieferzeiten sind vermutlich endlos, da, soweit ich weiss, nur auf Bestellung geliefert wird, aber wir wollen nicht klagen. Schliesslich liegt der Grundpreis fuer den Blenheim No 3 bei schlappen £139.825, Mehrwertsteuer inklusive, das ist doch mal was.
Es gibt auch eine andere Luxus/einzelbau Firma in South Kensington, Ich glaube auf Old Brompton Road irgendwo, aber Ich kann Mich nicht an der genaue name erinneren.

Hallo, I would like to congratulate you for your blog. It looks really nice. I keep a blog myself (in spanish) about a portenio (Buenos Aires person) in London, but it does not look as nice. Surprisingly, I have posted pretty much about the same things (english breakfast, abbey road, etc)
My german girlfriend found this link. I like your pictures and envy the general layout. I have dedicated a post to london leben in lonenio.

DO NOT BUY A JAGUAR!!! What has happened to Jaguar since FORD bought them. They have become the most dishonest car company on the planet. In my case my father bought the car and one of the incentives was what the Jaguar salesman explained as the "Piece of Mind" program. that program allows for the car to be turned in should the lessor or purchasor pass away. Unfortunately may dad passed away last May and we attempted to turn in the car. They outright said NO! The piece of mind plan was really the "Piece of Crap" plan. They said that since the title of the car included his company's name on it, the piece of mind plan was nulled. Since we had no choice, we agreed to jeep the car and a Jaguar Credit debt manager agreed to waive the late fees if the payments were brought current. Well the payments were brought current but the statements kept carrying the late fees. I called them today to inquire...and to my dismay they claim that the debt manager did not note the arrangement of waiving the debt. NOT TRUE and more lies. This has got to be the most dishonest and treacherous car company in the world. The cars are inferior and the service is even worst. Those issues do not even compare to the level of dishonesty and outright lies in order to sell and collect money. Beware if you are thinking of buying a Jaguar. They will lie, cheat and do whatever they can to get you into the contract. Thereafter you are nothing more than another sucker!!! Stay tuned and stay away from Jags....

Bristol stellt die letzte Bastion von britischem Understatement und Stil dar. Unabhängig und mit kleinen Stückzahlen. Doch wie lange noch? Die Stückzahlen sinken (derzeit etwa 25 im Jahr) Wenn Mr. Lewis (Eigentümer) kein Geld mehr reinsteckt, sieht es düster aus mit der Manufaktur in Filton bei Bristol.
