Vor einigen Monaten bekam ich email von einem gewissen Simon Scardanelli. Simon what? Spam, ganz klar. Spam, not at all. Was fuer eine seltsame Begegnung. 1989 wurde das Debutalbum einer Band mit Namen "Big Bam Boo" veroeffentlicht. Die Singleauskopplung "Fell Off A Mountain" war ein brillianter Erfolg. Ich kaufte das diese Tonfolge wiedergebende Vinyl, "Fun Faith & Fairplay", und war gluecklich. Bloody Hell, was war das fuer ein Stueck Musik, einfach saugut.
Im Zuge der Digitalisierungswellen entschied ich, ein MP3 file musste her. Ich wollte nicht warten (auf mich, den ganzen Krams kaufen und endlich, endlich die LPs auf den Mac speisen, das naechste Projekt), also flugs iTunes shop kontaktiert und dann das: Nixda Big Bam Boo. Musikgott seis getrommelt, es war anderswo erhaeltlich. Meine email Adresse gab ich an und erhielt spaeter genau diese Nachricht: Simon Scardanelli blogt auf myspace (read the comments). Nicht sehr erfolgreich leider, mate, you've got to post from time to time, that's the idea. Once a month is not good enough, really. Na immerhin, Bob Dylan und Marianne Faithfull sind "friends".
Is "Big Bam Boo" a one hit wonder? Vielleicht, aber "Fell Off A Mountain" ist und bleibt ein all time favourite and a classic. Simon: Keep blogging, in other words, say something.
PS Talking about records. Anybody interested in Dead Kennedys' Skateboard Party? Mint condition, the original of course, the white one, cover kept in a plastic folder, played once (!) to tape it. That was back in 1983. Almost twenty years ago. God, I'm old, really. Wait for the Google bots. Drop me a line.
